I did it! I bought some. And felt guilty the entire next day.
Such is my lot in life.
In any case, here’s what I bought! And no, this isn’t a fashion blog, so don’t be surprised that I’m rather boring and sort of cheap. You willingly signed up for both of those by reading Happy Sighs, friends. I thought I made that clear.
1. polka dot sweater, Target | 2. colorblock sweater, Target | 3. ballet flats, Aldo
4. necklace, Pacific Sunwear | 5. mustard jeans from a dear friend, Loft | 6. mustard tank, Loft | 7. polka dot blouse, Target
8. chambray shirt, American Eagle (mine isn’t as light as the one featured or as dark as the one linked)| 9. satiny top, Express
10. skinny jeans, American Eagle | 11. T-shirt, Target | 12. houndstooth cardigan, Target | 13. galaxy dress, Modcloth
14. earrings, Pacific Sunwear | 15. black polka dot top, Target | 16. black satiny blouse, Express
What I really, really wanted was this dress in green. It was really flattering. Well, in parts. But, as mentioned, only parts. So, I did as you all suggested! I bought the size that fit around my largest part and planned to have it altered. But, that dress sat in a bag in my room for a few days before I realized, no. I probably didn’t have the guts to try this tailoring nonsense. I’m so nervous it won’t look great.
Meanwhile, I need some help. I FEEL LIKE the stuff above could all fit together to make some cute outfits. Like this.
Or this.
But, I don’t know. It’s been awhile since I’ve worn clothes I like. I’m sort of stumped.
SO.
Can you put together an outfit for me? If you’re Photoshop savvy, you can cut and paste the pretty photos and link to them in the comments, OR (if you’re not into the high-tech whozzits and whatsits), you can just post a comment with the descriptions or links of what you’d put together.
AND.
Whoever puts together the awesomest outfit gets a free Halloween card. Deal? Deal. (Play as many times as you want. And you definitely can add in stuff not linked to on this collage. Maybe then I’ll be able to rationalize buying MOAR. Muahahahaha.)
I’ll pick a winner next Friday!

You’re killing me with the mustard! And the houndstooth! So of course I would combine them. The houndstooth sweater over the black blouse with the yellow pants, and I would die. I’ve seen and loved lots of pattern mixing lately, too. So if you were feeling particularly punchy (or had a glass of bourbon in you), try mixing the mustard polka dot blouse with the houndstooth sweater with jeans and the new flats. In my head it is really cute!

You did a great job picking pieces for mixing! I suck at that, so I’m going to study this selection very carefully :) With these options, I’d pair #5 with #16 (because I just discovered how much I love black and yellow. I must have been a bee in a past life or something). Not the most original contribution, so I’m excited to see what the more fashion savvy among us come up with!

I am wearing that exact polka dot sweater from Target, right now. With a teal tank and brown pants (for work, otherwise with dark denim.)

7 over 13, tied but mostly unbuttoned, combined with the power of those rad 14 earrings. [http://hitchdied.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/hitchdiedoutfit.jpg].

So cute!! There’s something really fun about not buying any clothes for a loooooong time, and then splurging and buying a bunch of things at once that all kind of “go” together. It feels like What Not to Wear or something (except without a $5000 credit card :/). There’s a 50% off sale at my favorite consignment store today, and I’m hoping to pick up a few new pieces for fall (for my work wardrobe, though, which sadly must stay very tame).
I’d like to see #4 + #5 + #9 together, but I’m guessing you’ve already thought of that combo.

I’m stumped on the configurations because it ALL looks good (Seriously – can I shop your closet??) but wanted to say that HOLY CRAP I can’t wait to have a waist again and go shopping. Love your clothes. Love.

Mustard jeans + chambray shirt + chevron-y necklace + flats
<3
Good for you, by the by.

this tells me I need to go to target ASAP. Love it all! Houndstooth, mustard yellow, a va va voom dress, and killer jeans? Yes please.
Regarding outfits: I would totally wear the yellow blouse (7) under the houndstooth cardi, then keep it simple with the jeans and flats on the bottom half. Probably also needs the geometric earrings, but no necklace – houndstooth and vivid yellow is enough :)

Oh my goodness, all so cute! I love all the mustard, and I LOVE those dark wash skinny jeans. Let’s see… 7 + 10 + 14 would be smashing, or 3 + 4 +13– that is an awesome dress! I also like Robin’s suggestion of the dress with the yellow blouse over it.

I have a post on tailoring that I haven’t had time to write. It’s for you. I will let you know when I get it up. Because seriously lady, stop chickening out with the tailoring!
And holy moly, you are going to look hot in 13. Also, I’m super proud of you that you bought bright yellow pants. That takes confidence!

Can I order it all in my size? I’d def wear the mustard jeans with the chambray and necklace. Done.

Depending on lengths and fits of various pieces, I’d try:
2 over 8, plus 10 and 3
or
6 + 10 + 12 + 14
Follow-up outfit pics! Or it didn’t happen! ;)

15 + 5 would be pretty, I think. I’d just wear those yellow jeans ALL THE TIME. With anything.

13 +14
3+7+10
1+6+10
5+9
6+8+10
….wish I were photoshop savvy lol

great pieces btw!
Sep 18, 2012 12:34 pm
add 14 to 5+9

SQUEE! I love doing this kind of thing! If you want a city-chic look, do 16+10+14 with your hair up.
For a cool everyday look, I’d go with 9+5+3, hair down.

1 (polka dot sweater) over 6 (yellow tank) with 10 (jeans), and a simple leather belt, and leather boots (you own those, right?) with your hair up in a simple ponytail.
Sep 20, 2012 6:37 pm
I love #7. I can never pull off that kind of bow.
7 (polka dot blouse) over 6 (mustard tank) with 10 (skinny jeans) and 14 (earrings)
1 (polka dot sweater) over 6 (mustard tank), unbuttoned just enough for 4 to hang down, and 5 (mustard jeans) and the flats
Sep 20, 2012 6:38 pm
8 and 5 with the 14 earrings would be so cute too.

Houndstooth over the blue satiny top, with the mustard jeans.
I am loving those mustard jeans. I just got buttery yellow skinny jeans, but I’ve been planning on returning them. Now I know why – in my heart of hearts, I want mustard!
