day off.

This weekend was loads of fun, but was packed to the gills with things to do.

With a busy work week ahead of us, and not much time to recoup from a packed weekend, I’ve already carved out time for a day off toward the end of the week. Bonus, someone just sent me a belated birthday gift, so we have a few more bucks (when possible, I’m adamant about birthday money being used for fun things, and not bills or socks).

I’m thinking about using our free time and extra money to take Little Josh to the Please Touch Museum.

Or, maybe we’ll go to Linvilla Orchards for pumpkins and apples and hayrides.

Or, we can hold out just a few extra days, then take advantage of Philly’s Restaurant Week and grab a bite.

I’m sort of overwhelmed by the opportunities available when you have the time and money to spare- both are pretty rare lately.

If you had one nice, long free day, what would you do with it?

A nice long free day at this time of the year is totally made for autumn activities like apple orchards, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and cider. Oh and don’t forget the donuts! That’s important.

I dream of a day-off – a no chores or catching up on anything day off. With the baby at daycare for part of the day. I would go out for late, lazy breakfast, take a long bath, take a nap, lay around and read. Then, I would pick my kid up from daycare early and take her to the park. It sounds so lovely.

We just had an elusive weekend off. We failed at sleeping in, had a nice breakfast, went to the brewpub, had delicious food and better beer, then went apple picking. Spent the evening watching (bad) football. Twas so nice!

I totally know what you mean about not knowing what to do with yourself when you all of a sudden find yourself with time AND money! I’ve been day dreaming about a day off with nothing to do but go out to breakfast followed by a long hike in the ski basin to see the changing aspens and hang out in the crisp air followed by an evening of good food, red wine and snuggling on the couch.

I sort of hope you pick the orchard. Just sayin’ ;)
If I had a long day, I’d make myself get up early and drive out to Montauk Point before the crowds fill the roads, and go snooping in the woods. Then I’d sit in front of the lighthouse and soak up the waves for hours, until it was time to drive home. I’d stop for a donut and cider at a local orchard, and pick up a pizza to eat at our beach while the sun sets.
Mmm, I think I need to make this happen.
