september.

I love each season.

That’s not diplomacy; that’s the truth.

But this right here? Mid-September, with its chilly mornings and evenings, but hot afternoons? This is my favorite.

The breeze allows for taking down the old AC and leaving the windows wide. Perfect for warming some cider and lighting a spicy candle.

But the warm afternoons are just right for taking a walk to the park with sunglasses on and cardigan cast aside. CJ’s water ice is still open, with lines of people and loud Gospel music spilling onto the street, and the silver sliding board is still hot to the touch.

We take turns huddling under blankets with books, and laying on our naked bellies to fingerpaint. Both feel appropriate.

Short sleeves sometimes, slippers others. Popsicles and pumpkins.

The best of two worlds.

So this song has been stuck in my head since I heard it played at a wedding last weekend. And this post is NOT HELPING the matter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQf9dtrc26A

September would be the greatest month of the year, were it not for October…

We are experiencing the most glorious Indian summer. Foggy and upper 50s in the morning so hunkering down with a cup of coffee seems entirely appropriate. But by lunchtime the sun is out and I can kick off my shoes and eat outside. The bus ride home is all sunglasses and sunshine. The sunsets have been amazing. At night its cool enough but not so cold that I have to close the window to sleep.

I could live like this forever.
